Frilly and Funkie's Pastels and Pearls Challenge!

Hello, and welcome! How are you doing on this beautiful day? I absolutely adore the long days of summer. Have you started any summer traveling yet? I was able to get away to the mountains about a week ago with a dear friend, (a first for me), as in the past I've always traveled with my family. We spent happy hours antiquing and exploring the local arts and crafts community. We saw a chick flick, cheated on our diets, relaxed in the hot tub, and enjoyed the rocking chairs on the decks of the cabin with the peaceful sound of a nearby waterfall in the background. It was truly refreshing to the soul.

I'm excited to be home from my adventure and hosting our new two week challenge at The Frilly and Funkie Blog! Our theme this time around is Pastels and Pearls. Create any vintage or shabby chic project that features a pastel color palette and includes pearls. Those are the only guidelines. Other than that, the sky is the limit!

At the end of the challenge the team will choose their top four picks. Our first place winner will be invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at the Frilly and Funkie Blog. Three additional talented participants will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and adheres to the challenge guidelines will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique! For entry specifics and  inspiration from my amazing teammates just click on the blog link above.

I'm at that time in life when the new arrivals are my friend's grandchildren instead of their children. A dear friend will be welcoming her first grandchild to the world soon, and I'm preparing for the upcoming shower.

The soft blues and pinks of Maja Design's Vintage Summer Basics and Vintage Baby collections pair perfectly for this card. The sentiment above is part of the paper collection. The flowers are handmade using design paper. Glass pearls are sprinkled throughout the florals.

The combination of twine and a bow add both a soft and rustic touch.

Thank y'all so much for stopping by! I also want to thank you for the lovely comments you left on my last post. What a blessing it is to be a part of this wonderful community of artists. It's all up to you now. Time to head to your craft space and begin creating! If you've never entered the challenge before, now is the time. It's fun!! I can't wait to see your masterpieces! Wishing you days filled with happiness and peace.

Hugs,

Letters from the Past for Maja Design!

Hello and happy Tuesday! I'm thrilled to share a new project for Maja Design with you! I'm getting in the swing of summer with a card created from Maja Design's beautiful Vintage Summer Basics collection.

I begin by distressing, layering, and stitching design papers to form a base for my card. Here, several layers of the same die cut are repeated in different patterns and directions.

A 1

A 2

A tiny Prima postcard stamp adds just the right touch in the top corner.

A 4

A 3

The flowers are handcrafted using design paper and dusted with gesso. Mini glass pearls are scattered here and there for a feminine touch.

A 6

The focal image is created using an older Inkadinkado stamp that's been gathering dust in my stamp cabinet.

I hope you enjoyed taking a peek at my card. I truly appreciate your kind comments and so enjoy reading them! Don't forget to check out our June Mood Board Challenge on the Maja Blog. You still have plenty of time to play along. I send wishes for a wonderful, joyful day!

Hugs,

Maja Design June Mood Board Challenge!

I wish a happy hello to all of my crafty friends! I'm super excited to share Maja Design's new mood board with you today! You'll find the all of the guidelines for the mood board challenge and some additional photos of my interpretation below. Be sure visit to the Maja Design blog for the amazing inspiration of my teammates!

This is how we use the mood boards:
Definition mood board – n
[a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other]
We are using mood boards for our challenges. We truly believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. Feel free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the colour scheme.
We will pick a winner and present it here on the blog January 25th.
Have in mind that these challenges are a really great way for us to discover new talents and maybe some future Creative Team members…

How to participate?
♥ Create anything you’ll like – a layout, a card, something altered or maybe a canvas, take a nice picture of it and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu. We also need to know your full name, address and a phone number. Please specify what collection you would like to win, if you are the lucky one. We will also want to know if you would like it in the size 12*12 or 6*6. Please send us the pictures in the size of 800 pixels on the width. We would be so grateful if you also could change the file name of the photo to your first and last name including your country.
♥ Feel free to send us more than one picture, from different angles or some close-ups – or why not more than one project?
♥ Publish the project/s on your blog (or/and any social media, e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest) with a link to our site. Please also add the picture of the mood board.
♥ Feel free to combine your entry with other challenges.
♥ The winner will be revealed the last Monday each month, at the Maja blog. The winner will be sent one collection by their choice, and also a digital Winner’s Badge to use and brag with.

Thank you so much for visiting! I wish you a day filled with crafty happiness and all things wonderful!

Hugs,

Nancy

Let Your Soul Take Wings

Hello, my friends! I hope this day finds you happy and well!

Today marks the beginning of a new two week challenge at The Frilly and Funkie Blog! Sue is our hostess, and she'd like us to 'Let the words do the talking'. Sue loves to include meaningful sayings on her projects. For this challenge she asks to include words and sayings that are meaningful or inspiring to us.

This is one of my favorite challenges. The Impression Obsession sentiment stamp (purchased from the Funkie Junkie Boutique) speaks volumes to me. I usually gift my cards to friends and loved ones, but I may keep this one for whenever I need a little pick-me-up.

Beautiful Prima papers are distressed, layered, and stitched to form a base for the card and it's embellishments. The photos below give you a close up peek of the layering. The detailed cuts for the sentiment and edges are created with Spellbinder's Labels 49 dies (also from The Funkie Junkie Boutique).

Embossing with a Prima stencil provides additional dimension, though much of it ended up beneath embellishments. Antique Linen Distress Paint gives a bit of color to the embossing paste.

Prima flowers get a splash of Tim Holtz distress stain.

You'll find a couple of chipboard accents a bit of shiny bling from my stash. Then there's the natural twine bow...

Thank you so much for coming by today. I send wishes for all things good and wonderful! Now it's time to head to your craft space and start creating. We're waiting to see your beautiful creations at The Frilly and Funkie Blog!

Hugs,
