A Secret Garden!

Hello! A warm welcome to you on this beautiful Tuesday! I hope you're staying nice and cozy if it's frigid in your part of the world.

I have the honor of posting on the Maja Design Blog today! A week ago I posted a complete tutorial for paper roses, so I'm using some of my handmade blossoms to bring this secret garden to life.

I have a passion for secret gardens. Honestly, I can't get enough of them. My home, Charleston, is filled with private gardens sequestered behind tall brick walls with elaborate wrought iron gates. I'm always trying to peek beyond the gates to glimpse the beauty that lies beyond.

You don't have to peek around massive iron gates to visit my garden! Inside you are greeted by distressed Maja Design papers, layered die cut doilies, abundant handcrafted blooms, shabby resin embellishments, and a sweet stamped sentiment.

You can create your own rose garden anytime you wish by checking out the tutorial presented on the Maja Design Blog last Tuesday.

Thank you so very much for sharing your time with me! Don't forget to check out our February Mood Board Challenge. We just launched it this week, so you have plenty of time to participate. May this day bring you untold joys and creative adventures!

Hugs,

The Winter 'Blues'

Hello, dear friends! How are you doing? I hope the New Year is treating you well. I'm thrilled to present a new project on the Maja Design Blog this lovely Friday. I don't actually have the winter blues-lol. I am, however, totally and completely obsessed with the color blue. Sometimes I'll go a couple of weeks favoring a certain color, and this week it is blue. Does that ever happen to you?

This is no problem when you have Maja Design papers. They have a fabulous assortment of blues to choose from. Today I'm using Vintage Autumn Basics to bring to life this sequestered garden.

The base papers are distressed, layered, and stitched. A script stamp adds interest to the upper corner of the card. Two ovals layered on foam adhesive provide a backdrop for the bench. The blue paper roses and leaves are handmade using the paper collection.
You'll find some cheesecloth and a twine bow for a feminine touch.

Thank you so much for visiting today! I hope you have plenty of time to get cozy in your crafting space this weekend. There are so many lovely Maja Design Papers are waiting for you to create your own treasures!

Hugs,
Nancy-sign

Christmas Greetings!

Hello, friends! It's getting cold outside, but you have the warmest of welcomes here. I'm up again on the Maja Design Blog, presenting another holiday card featuring the brand new 'I wish' paper collection.

There is nothing that brings more joy than seeing the magic of Christmas through the eyes of a child. This sweet little girl, fussy cut from the paper collection, is my inspiration for today's card.

There are several layers here. Each layer is distressed, stitched, layered, and popped up with foam adhesive. I'm trying to capture the dimension in my photos, though it doesn't always show up as well as I would like it to.

The sentiment card above is also part of the collection. The stunning ephemera and vintage inspired images included in 'I wish' truly capture the imagination. They make holiday crafting a cinch!

Snow capped greenery, glass pearls, liquid snow, and a twine bow provide a finishing touch.

Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to join me. I know how busy this time of year can be. It's a great honor to share my project with you. It is my Christmas greeting to you and your family!

A Finely Feathered Nest

Hello again! I'm back with a third project this week, and I have great news to share. It's time for a new two week challenge at the Frilly and Funkie Blog! Pamellia is our hostess, and her them is Things with Wings. All she asks is that we create a vintage or shabby chic project that includes wings. They can be butterflies, birds, dragonflies, or anything else you can think of that sports wings. Now that I think about it, there are tons of other creatures and beings with wings; angels, insects, dragons, and a host of mythical creatures. Let your imagination run wild!

At the end of the challenge the team will choose their top four picks. Our first place winner will be invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at the Frilly and Funkie Blog. Three additional talented participants will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and adheres to the challenge guidelines will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique! For entry specifics and inspiration from my amazing teammates just click on the blog link above.

I love birds. I watch them. I feed them. I water them. I boil and crush eggshells for them. I even mail order gourmet bird food so I can be certain my feathered friends are getting the very best nutrition. Naturally, my winged creature of choice is a bird (a Blackcap Chickadee to be exact). My chickadee is preparing a cozy home in preparation for nestlings.

I'd like to mention that my talented friend and teammate, Pamellia (My Little Craft Things), is a bird and squirrel whisperer. She has her backyard creatures literally eating from her hand, whereas mine bolt at the first sign of humans. I highly recommend a visit to her blog, where she shares stunning photos of her tiny friends.

Almost everything you see on this card (except the stamps and dies) is from the Prima Vintage Emporium collection. I'll leave a list at the end of the post. Below are a few close ups.

In the photo below you'll notice a scroll embellishment below the sentiment. That is a scrap from a Spellbinders die cut (the shell/opening left by the the die cut that people usually toss out). Don't throw those treasures away. Layer them, embellish with them, have fun with them.

Below are photos of the inside and back of the card.

That's all I have for now. It's your turn to create your own special project featuring anything that flutters or flies! Thank you so much for being here with me today, and for the kind comments you left on my last post. My heart is overwhelmed with joy to be part of such a wonderful group of people. I wish you a day filled with blessings!

Hugs,
Nancy-sign

Additional Supplies: Prima Vintage Emporium flowers. Bird and nest stamps and dies from Sizzix, other stamps from Invoke Art and Impression Obsession. Bird nest from my stash. Sewing machine and thread.
