Frilly and Funkie's Pastels and Pearls Challenge!

Hello, and welcome! How are you doing on this beautiful day? I absolutely adore the long days of summer. Have you started any summer traveling yet? I was able to get away to the mountains about a week ago with a dear friend, (a first for me), as in the past I've always traveled with my family. We spent happy hours antiquing and exploring the local arts and crafts community. We saw a chick flick, cheated on our diets, relaxed in the hot tub, and enjoyed the rocking chairs on the decks of the cabin with the peaceful sound of a nearby waterfall in the background. It was truly refreshing to the soul.

I'm excited to be home from my adventure and hosting our new two week challenge at The Frilly and Funkie Blog! Our theme this time around is Pastels and Pearls. Create any vintage or shabby chic project that features a pastel color palette and includes pearls. Those are the only guidelines. Other than that, the sky is the limit!

At the end of the challenge the team will choose their top four picks. Our first place winner will be invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at the Frilly and Funkie Blog. Three additional talented participants will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and adheres to the challenge guidelines will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique! For entry specifics and  inspiration from my amazing teammates just click on the blog link above.

I'm at that time in life when the new arrivals are my friend's grandchildren instead of their children. A dear friend will be welcoming her first grandchild to the world soon, and I'm preparing for the upcoming shower.

The soft blues and pinks of Maja Design's Vintage Summer Basics and Vintage Baby collections pair perfectly for this card. The sentiment above is part of the paper collection. The flowers are handmade using design paper. Glass pearls are sprinkled throughout the florals.

The combination of twine and a bow add both a soft and rustic touch.

Thank y'all so much for stopping by! I also want to thank you for the lovely comments you left on my last post. What a blessing it is to be a part of this wonderful community of artists. It's all up to you now. Time to head to your craft space and begin creating! If you've never entered the challenge before, now is the time. It's fun!! I can't wait to see your masterpieces! Wishing you days filled with happiness and peace.

Hugs,

  1. Nancy, this is one of the most gorgeous cards I've ever seen. The distressing, stitching, layering and color palette are breathtaking all on their own. But then you add in that gorgeous flower cluster with pearls and baby's breath and incredible hand made flowers and delicate ribbon....oooh la la! I'm loving this, girl! What a work of art!

  5. Whoever receives this gorgeous baby card will be thrilled with such a keepsake. You have outdone yourself with the lovely layers holding that beautiful bouquet of flowers. What I don't understand is how you can put so many lovely elements on the front of a tent card and keep it standing upright. When I try to make a tent card with any embellishments, it wants to go splat and flatten out on the table. I sure would love to know your trick.
    Hugs!

  9. Nancy, It is always such a delight to visit your blog, and this time you have written such a lovely description of your travels AND made a wonderful shabby baby card for us! Double the pleasure! Love your paperslayered up and stitched so neatly! What a fabulous touch this adds! I tried sewing on a project this morning, and all it did was break the thread! I think it's time for a new machine! Your flower spray with those lovely homemade flowers take my breath away! And your shabby/rustic bow and glass pearls are the perfect finishing touches to this keepsake.

Good for you to have a little girl time...it's good for the soul! Sounds like a wonderful time--especially the waterfall side cabin and the antique shopping. Big hugs!
