Hello blog friends and family! I hope you're ringing in the New Year surrounded by the love of those closest to you! We are having a lovely, quiet holiday with our children, grandchildren, and parents. It's my favorite way to celebrate the season!
Today is special for me in yet another way. It's my first design team contribution to the
Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog! Our challenge theme for the next two weeks will be New Year resolutions.
As I fight my way through a back injury I find strength in the Lord, my family, and my friends. During my therapy I see people in far more severe situations than my own. It is a humbling experience. I have so much to be thankful for. My resolution is to appreciate the miracles, both large and small, that occur in everyday life.
The card and box I created showcase Maja's Vintage Autumn Basics paper collection. Until recently Maja papers were difficult to find in the United States. I wrote to Linda at my fave shop, the
Funkie Junkie Boutique, begging her to carry the beautiful papers. She said YES!! Now I can craft with them to my hearts content!
I crafted the flowers and leaves using the same paper collection and dies from Spellbinders and Magnolia, accenting them with some Gesso for a more shabby chic appearance.
I went digging through my stash of rubber stamps and found the perfect sentiment to use for the centerpiece of my card.
I did a lot of layering, some "artistic tearing', added twine and bits of lace.
Since the card is super thick and chunky I created a matching box using the same paper collection.
