Thank Heaven for Little Boys!

Hello and welcome! I'm so very happy to be here with you. How are you doing? It's the time of year that children are returning to school and summer is winding down, though it's still steamy and tropical in my neck of the woods.

I'm having an exciting week. Charleston was in the path of totality for the eclipse yesterday (which was very cool to see), and today have the honor of featuring a project on the Maja Design Blog. I've also just returned from traveling again, this time to my daughter's home to help out after my grand-girl's surgery. I'm thrilled to report that all went well and she's having a smooth recovery. I made her a get-well card to cheer her up a bit, but my sweet little grandson sadly pointed out that I forgot to make a card for him. I decided to remedy that situation as soon as I returned home.

All I needed was a little help from Maja Design's newest collection, Denim & Friends! Did I mention I'm happy to be home? It feels incredibly cozy to be back in my craft room with a cup of hot tea, surrounded by beautiful Maja Design papers!

The design papers are distressed, layered, and stitched in the usual fashion. The blues in this collection are absolutely lovely. I really can't get enough of them. They're perfect for masculine projects, but work just as well for shabby chic pieces.

I tell all of my children and grandchildren they're my favorites, so this image makes perfect focal point. The 'You Rock' sentiment is also prominently featured.

This is one of the least flowery cards you'll ever see from me, but I couldn't resist tucking in a few petals here and there. The paint splatters fit right in with my grand-boy's personality.

There is quite a bit of dimension, which I'll try to capture in the photos.

A natural twine bow adds a finishing touch in the lower corner.

Below is a look at the interior of the card.

Thank you so much for joining me on this lovely day. I send warmest wishes for days filled with sunshine and hearts filled with joy!

Hugs,

  2. This is a masterpiece, Nancy! First of all, I adore the color blue...and secondly, denim is my favorite material of all time. I think it comes from growing up in the 60's and 70's. There are so many gorgeous layers here, and such an artful layering of all these wonderful patterns. I love the paint splotches and distressing, too. Now I want these papers! LOL Big hugs!

  3. Nancy, this is just perfect!! Your Grandson is going to be so happy and proud of it! You took the words right out of my mouth because I was going to comment how I really liked the flower die cuts that you left flat; the paint splatters and especially letting the words show to make him feel important! Great job!! And congrats on being able to fully witness the solar eclipse - a once in a lifetime event!! WOW!

  4. Love the layers and layers finished with the splatters and perfectly placed sentiments, they all make for a superb card. We had a solar eclipse down under a few years ago and yes it is an amazing experience. Really enjoying your work during your northern summer, it just pops from the screen, the wonderful vibrancy of your colour schemes, thanks Nancy!
