Spring Garden Flower and Seed Tag

I am so happy to welcome you today! I hope everyone is making through to the other side of this wild winter without too many troubles. Maybe it's just me, but I am dreaming of springtime and it is carrying over to my projects.
Another two weeks have passed since my last post for the Frilly and Funky Blog and it is time for another exciting challenge! Sue is our host this week and her mission for us is to use our stencils in our creations, but also include texture. The texture can be in any form, from embossing to texture paste or even fabric.

If you've never participated in the challenges, then consider giving it a go! Each challenge runs for two full weeks, so you have plenty of time to get your craft on . A winner is chosen at the end of each challenge and is invited to be a guest designer on the blog. Also, just for entering a project you are placed in the drawing for a gift certificate to Linda's Funkie Junkie Boutique. You simply can't go wrong!

This particular challenge was good for me. Though I own many stencils, I never use them. I don't know why I never use them, but now I had no excuse to put it off. I created a background on old blank book pages using a Prima stencil and Distress Embossing powder. I added some distress ink then sprayed it down in Perfect Pearl mist to add some additional tint and shimmer

I layered some Maja papers and a vintage flower seed ad to match the soft tones in my base layer. I wanted to continue the foliage and twisty wooden vine from the image onto my tag, so I created these using cardstock, distress inks, and Spellbinders and Tim Holtz dies, spritzing additional Perfect Pearl mist to my foliage for even more shine. If you look closely you'll see I tucked in some frayed cheesecloth and tied everything together with some twine.

I really layered on the book paper with this tag. It is thin, naturally vintage looking, and easy to distress and shape.

A little twine bow provides a bit of accent on the side of the tag.

Thank you so much for stopping in to take a peek at my little tag. If you're wondering about any of the supplies I used you'll find a list just below. Sending you special wishes for a blessed and crafty day!

Hugs,

Nancy

Additional Supplies: Spellbinders Heartfelt Creations Classic Leaf Die, eyelet, printed image of vintage seed ad, cheesecloth, hole punch, tag corner punch, old book pages.
