Be My Valentine!

Hello and welcome! I hope you're having a great day. I can't believe we're already in February! Time truly does fly when you're having fun.

Today is the beginning of our newest two week challenge at The Frilly and Funkie Blog!  The lovely Zoe is our hostess with the following guidelines: Love is in the air, and with Valentine's Day just around the corner, this challenge is to make a card for your sweet Valentine in a vintage or shabby chic style.

At the end of the challenge the team will choose their top four picks. Our first place winner will be invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at The Frilly and Funkie Blog . Three additional talented participants will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and adheres to the challenge guidelines will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique! For entry specifics and inspiration from my fabulous teammates just click on the blog link above.

My son was born on Valentine's Day, so of course it is my favorite day of the year! For this challenge I'm sharing a card featuring shabby, distressed layers, dimensional stitched hearts, and handmade roses.

I have a tutorial for these roses here. The flowers are anchored with a twine bow and bits of frayed cheesecloth. The tiny clock is fussy cut from the paper collection.

Thank you so much for visiting with me! I'm super excited about our new challenge, and I hope you'll play along with us. May your day be filled with sunshine and joyful moments!

Hugs,

  3. What a gorgeous creation with lots of layers and your always beautiful flowers. My husband saw me taking an egg carton into my studio and wondered why it wasn't going in the recycling bin. I just said "Nancy made me do it." - he rolled his eyes and walked away. :) Now I just have to make some flowers, Nancy style.
    Hugs!

  4. Another shabby chic Nancy beauty! Your work always delights me and this is such a special example of it. Love the stitched hearts - such a sweet element. And as always, your handmade flowers are beyond compare. A special Valentine, for sure.

  5. I study the details of your cards like a textbook. I love, love the frayed cheesecloth/twine combo that you tucked in with those glorious hand made roses. The roses are a work of art all to themselves. The gingham one is my favorite. The stitched hearts add such lovely dimension to the composition and the stitched edges are perfection. Finally, there's this lovely shabby color palette...yum! I want to watch you work sometime! xo
