'A Lovely Day' Card!

A happy hello to you! I'm so happy to be here with you today. I hope you're enjoying fine spring weather in your corner of the world.  

I'm presenting on the Maja Design Blog today, and in honor of this beautiful time of year, today's card is all in pastels from Maja Design's Sofiero collection. I absolutely adore this collection. It is the embodiment of all things springtime.

The design paper is distressed, layered, and stitched. Graduated sizes of Spellbinders circles and labels are layered and stitched as well. The sentiment is part of the paper collection. It is from the bottom border of the paper. Most brands of papers leave that section a plain white, but Maja Design makes wonderful use of that area by placing pretty designs and sentiments for use with our projects.

The circles are folded at the center to add dimension and to accommodate the sentiment. Paper flowers from my stash form a fresh and cheery floral bouquet.

Twine, lace, vintage buttons, and a tiny painted clothespin add finishing touches to the design.

Maja Design April Mood Board Challenge!

Hello! How is your day going? I'm delighted to be back with a new project to share with y'all. This card is my interpretation of our newest Mood Board Challenge at the Maja Design Blog. The best news of all is that everyone is invited to join in the fun for the chance of winning an entire collection of Maja Design Papers! Below you'll find the inspiration board along with specifics for entering your own gorgeous creations.  

This is how we use the mood boards:

[a board used by designers on which samples of various colours and textures are mounted to help in deciding which elements complement each other]

We are using mood boards for our challenges. We truly believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. Feel free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the color scheme.

We will pick a winner and present it on the Maja Design blog on December 26th.

Have in mind that these challenges are a really great way for us to discover new talents and maybe some future Creative Team members…

How to participate?

♥ Create anything you’ll like – a layout, a card, something altered or maybe a canvas, take a nice picture of it and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu. We also need to know your full name, address and a phone number. Please specify what collection you would like to win, if you are the lucky one. We will also want to know if you would like it in the size 12*12 or 6*6. Please send us the pictures in the size of 800 pixels on the width. We would be so grateful if you also could change the file name of the photo to your first and last name including your country.

♥ Feel free to send us more than one picture, from different angles or some close-ups – or why not more than one project?

♥ Publish the project/s on your blog (or/and any social media, e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest) with a link to our site. Please also add the picture of the mood board.

♥ Feel free to combine your entry with other challenges.

♥ The winner will be revealed the last Monday each month, at the Maja blog. The winner will be sent one collection by their choice, and also a digital Winner’s Badge to use and brag with.

Man of Numbers

Hello, lovely friends! I hope you're having a beautiful week. All is well here. I'm quite busy in my craft room, which means I'm having the time of my life! 

We're launching a fabulous new challenge at The Frilly and Funkie Blog! The talented Jenny is our hostess with the theme of 'Count Me In'. Her guidelines are as follows: For this challenge you need to use your choice of numbers to add that special 'sum-thing' to your vintage or shabby chic project. Make them count as part of the design, not just a last minute addition!  

At the end of the challenge the team will choose their top four picks. Our first place winner will be invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at The Frilly and Funkie Blog. Three additional talented participants will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and adheres to the challenge guidelines will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique! I happen to have my own very special 'man of numbers'. My son, Patrick, has loved numbers for as long as I can remember (primes are his favorite!). He's graduating this May (summa cum laude) with degrees in both Mathematics and Computer Engineering. In the fall he's off to begin a phd program in a very specialized area of number theory that I have absolutely no understanding of, but needless to say I am beyond proud of him. Today's card is for Patrick. You won't find a bow or flower anywhere on this card, but there are numbers everywhere you look.   

2017 is die cut from a Tim Holtz set and prominently featured as his graduation year. Of course, it wouldn't be a 'Patrick card' if it didn't have pi on it. I stamped each number separately using a Tim Holtz collage stamp. The point mark is simply the end of my pen dipped in ink. 

I also used a Wendy Vecchi stamp in each corner to give the card a more masculine look. 

The embellishments are from Tim Holtz Ephemera packs. The 'traveler' embellishments and clock hands are an inside joke between me and Patrick. He also studies theoretical physics, and I continually ask him to invent a time machine so we can get a close up view of history.

An Easter Garden!

 Hello, friends! I hope you're enjoying a lovely day. I'm relishing the beautiful weather and staying busy as ever in my craft room with my Easter preparations. I'm thrilled to be presenting on the Maja Design Blog today. I have a new card to share, once again featuring my embellished Easter eggs and two styles of handmade flowers.  

Two of my favorite Maja Design collections, Vintage Autumn Basics and Vintage Summer Basics, are used in the creation of this card. As usual, the paper is distressed, layered and stitched to form a base. One of the many things I adore about Maja Design paper is the way it behaves much like fabric when I'm working with it. As you can see, I really put it to the test and it holds up every time.

Design paper is border punched and layered to anchor the egg and florals. A die cut Spellbinder's frame is tucked in behind the egg. A die cut flourish, ribbon and cheesecloth add a soft touch.
