Frilly and Funkie Challenge: Boy oh Boy!

Hello and welcome to my beautiful friends! How is everything in your part of the world? It's a beautiful day in my little corner of the planet. The birds are singing and the sun is shining. It's one of those days you just want to be outside soaking up all of that springtime loveliness.

Today marks the beginning of our new two week challenge at the Frilly and Funkie Blog! Jenny is our hostess with the theme of 'Boy oh Boy!' She asks us to create any type of vintage or shabby chic project with a man in mind.

At the end of the challenge the team will choose their top four picks. Our first place winner will be invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at the Frilly and Funkie Blog. Three additional talented participants will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and adheres to the challenge guidelines will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique! For entry specifics and  inspiration from my amazing teammates just click on the blog link above.

The man who captured my heart this week is only a few days old. My sister became a grandma a few days ago, and I became a great-auntie!

Maja Design's adorable Vintage Baby paper collection is the perfect choice for welcoming a sweet new life into the world. The male themed colors are featured here, but you'll find a plethora of pinks as well.

The papers are distressed, layered, and stitched to form the base, then the embellishment begins!

The paper collection contains two sheets of vintage baby images, journaling spots, and sentiments. In the photo above you'll see one of the sweet little postage stamps.

The photo below captures a bit of the layering process. I use foam adhesive to pop up some of the layers.

The sentiment is also part of the paper collection.

Of course there must be a bow! Sometimes I think about not adding a bow, then I come to my senses and add one anyway.

Thank you so much for being here with me! I'm hoping you'll find some time to play along with our challenge. It's you that make the challenges so wonderful. I can't wait to see what you've been up to in your craft rooms! Wishing you warm spring breezes and happy crafting!

Hugs,

Summertime, and the livin' is easy...

Hello! Happy Tuesday and a warm welcome to you! I'm excited to be sharing three projects this week (today is the second)!

I have a new card to share for Maja Design! It features the breathtaking
Vintage Summer Basics collection. The little girl in the image below (found in the paper collection) recalls memories of the sun-drenched days of summer in our tiny midwestern town. My mom's garden overflowing with fragrant blooms. Bare feet and soft, cool grass. Playing outdoors all day with friends, being called in for lunch, then right back out to play again. As the sun went down we'd play 'kick the can' and catch lightening bugs. There was always a pitcher of Kool Aid in the fridge and popsicles in the freezer. These gorgeous papers carry me right back to those carefree days.

Multiple layers of design paper are distressed, layered, and stitched for the base of the card. Additional layers are rolled back to reveal a cheery floral pattern and add dimension. A couple lengths of lace from my stash anchored with vintage button lend a cozy feel. The photo below gives a closer look at two of the images in the paper collection.  There's an entire 12 x 12 sheet of vintage images. Imagine the possibilities!

A tumbling bouquet of flowers, rose leaves, and tendrils provide a cheery focal point. I experimented with adding touches of Golden Fiber Paste to the florals, but it doesn't show up well in the photos.

A natural twine bow and a two more vintage buttons from my stash provide a finishing touch.

Maja Design 'Birds of a Feather'!

Hello and welcome, my beautiful crafty friends! I have a new Maja Design card to share with you today. Spring has finally arrived. Flowers are blooming and the songbirds are nesting in my garden. I watch them from the window of my craft room, and they inspired this 'Birds of a Feather' card.

A 1 Maja 9

There are several layers of Maja Design's Vintage Spring Basics paper collection that have been distressed and stitched together. The floral details are fussy cut from both the 12x12 and 6x6 collections.

A 1 Maja 2

A cheery bouquet of Prima flowers and paper cherry blossoms adorn the front of the card, along with die cut leaves and blossom flourishes. A bit of cheesecloth adds a soft touch.

A 1 maja 8

A tiny bird's nest peeks out from the corner of the bouquet. The photo below captures additional fussy cutting from the 6 x 6 paper collection.

The sentiment is stamped using archival ink. The finishing touch is a natural twine bow.

'Timeless Memories Card' for Frilly and Funkie Challenge!

Hello and welcome! I hope you're having a lovely day! What mischief are you up to lately? All is well here. I'm a busy bee in my craft room these days, which is a little slice of heaven for me.

We're unveiling our new challenge at the Frilly and Funkie Blog today! Sue is our hostess, and her theme for the next two weeks is 'Let's make it a trio!' Sue says: One of the things I love to do is work in 3's on a project, 3 tags, 3 panels, 3 arches etc.... so for this challenge I'd like to see projects to including 3 of something, but this does need to be the main focal point of your project.

For entry specifics and some amazing inspiration from my teammates just click on the blog link above.

I chose a trio of handcrafted roses for this challenge.

Maja Design's Vintage Autumn Basics papers are distressed, layered, and stitched to form a base for the card. The circle on the top layer is die cut and popped up with foam adhesive to reveal a pretty floral pattern below.

The sentiment was already a part of the paper collection!

Additional embellishments include a jute bow and scattered clusters of glass pearls.

The image of the vintage lady is fussy cut from the paper collection.

Thank you so much for sharing your time with me and for the lovely, kind comments. I'm turning it over to you. It's time to head to your work space and start creating. I get so excited about seeing your entries. Honestly, I feel like the most talented artists in the crafting universe share their work at the Frilly and Funkie Challenges. I send wishes for a day filled with crafty adventures!

Hugs,
