Vintage Inspired Ornaments

Welcome friends! I hope you're having a great day! Autumn has well and truly arrived in Charleston with cooling temperatures and falling leaves. We've been busy preparing our home for the Thanksgiving holiday. The thought of having our family together and spending time with my loved ones fills me with incredible joy. Signs of Christmas are everywhere as well, from the stores to the music on the radio. What a wonderful time of year!

I'm excited to announce our newest challenge, 'A Gift from the Heart' at the Frilly and Funkie Blog. Cec is our host and she asks us to get a jump start on our Christmas planning by making something we can give as a gift. For all challenge specifics just click on the link above and you'll be ready to join in the fun!

My friend and I have a tradition of exchanging something handmade for our Christmas trees each year. I was recently inspired by some beautiful bauble cards I saw on Pinterest. They were designed by Klaudia from kszp.blogspot.com. I love her cards and set out to put my own spin on them to create ornaments for my friend.

used Maja Design papers that I stitched, distressed, then mounted on grunge board for sturdiness. Each bauble has been embellished with handmade Poinsettias, seasonal greenery, berries, and pine cones.

I'm hoping you'll find a little time to play along in our challenge!

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your time with me. Your kindness and friendship warm my heart. For those of you in the U.S. may you have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration! If you're traveling I pray for your safe journey. Wherever you are and whatever your plans, I hope you're surrounded by the people you love.

Hugs

Wendy Vecchi Style Tag

Hello! I hope you're enjoying beautiful autumn weather! My son was home for fall break the last few days!! It was a blessed time and I'm  already counting the days until I see him again at Thanksgiving. I miss my boy!

Today we're opening a brand new challenge at the Frilly and Funkie Blog with Jenny as our host. She asks  us to celebrate all things Wendy Vecchi with any type of 'Wendy' style project. You can find all the challenge details by clicking on the link above.

I had to go way outside my comfort zone for this challenge. Wendy's art is delightfully bright and whimsical with a primitive influence whereas mine is more of a vintage, romantic style using softer, muted tones. When I craft I always create from what I feel and see in my own heart and mind. I find it nearly impossible to replicate someone else's style. I spent a great deal of  time reviewing Wendy's blog. I can only hope I've done it just a tiny bit of justice, but my apologies to Wendy if I haven't.

I used primarily Wendy Vecchi and Tim Holtz products to create this autumn tag. There's a product list at the end of my post if you have questions regarding specific items.

I added my own touch by framing the sentiment with a spray of autumn flowers, leaves, and berries. I threw in the coiled floral wire sprigs for a touch of whimsy.

Thank you so much for coming by to take a peek at my project. I hope you'll be able to join in our challenge! May your day be filled with love, happiness, and crafty fun!

Hugs,
