Summer by the Sea Card

Hello my dear friends and welcome!! I can't believe it's already time for another great challenge at the Frilly and Funky Challenge Blog! Rebecca is our hostess and her theme is Cool Water! She asks us to use an image of water in our creations. It can be anything from droplets to the ocean! Keep yourself cool just thinking of water... The challenge winner receives a guest design spot on the blog, and all entrants have the chance to win a $25.00 shopping spree at the Funkie Junkie Boutique!  On that exciting note it's time to pull out your crafty supplies and join in the fun!

We live in coastal South Carolina, so when I think of summer I visualize relaxing days on the beach with my toes in the warm sand, breathing in the humid salt air as it's stirred by a cooling breeze, the sound of the surf soothing my soul as the waves roll steadily on shore. These memories became my inspiration for my project.

I wanted to work with pastel shades of coral, cream, and a sandy beige because they bring to mind the the soft tones of the shells we collect as we stroll along the beach. I found that Pion and Prima had design papers to perfectly compliment the color scheme and vintage image I chose. I distressed, stitched and layered my papers. The vintage image is one I printed from Pinterest a couple of years ago. I believe it may be from an old postcard, but I'm not sure.

I handcrafted my roses and added a few smaller flowers from my stash, hand painting all of them to coordinate with my image and papers. I used Tim Holtz distress paints, blending my own colors on my non-stick craft mat. I die cut my leaves from corrugated board to give them a 'beachy' look. I finished things off with a few die cut embellishments and a jute twine bow.

It is such an honor that you have taken the time to visit with me today! I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate you and the sweet comments you leave. I hope this day finds you well and gives you wonderful memories that you will cherish in the years to come!

Hugs,
